Keinyo White's amazing watercolor portraits

Keinyo White is an outstanding master of portraiture from New Zealand. In his interview to Washington Post he says: "Portraiture has always appealed to me. I'm a fan of the human element. The map of the human face rarely ceases to be interesting or entertaining or challenging".

His chosen medium is watercolor and as he claims, he likes it for many reasons. "You have to be a good draftsman; you have to have a good sense of proportion, of light and darks. You have to plan. You have to be capable of establishing a good composition before you begin and you have to have an excellent sense of color." And that is what he is. I personally adore his view from an unusual angle, his ability to recognize and display the feature's of human character and any emotions on the face. I also like his impressive play of light. The author, inspired by Buddism and Zen philisophy and the study of judo, cultivates compassion for others and hones his craft to its utmost ability. Enjoy!
